Can I book a wedding band on short notice?

When should I be booking my wedding entertainment?

When planning some evening entertainment for your wedding reception, there is no better idea than booking a live band to come and perform for your guests, but when should you start thinking about booking a band?

We would always recommend you begin making your enquiries as soon as you have an idea of the type of act you want at your wedding reception (if you're not sure what you're looking for, we'd be more than happy to assist). Booking 18 months or so in advance will pretty much guarantee the band you want will be available to perform on your preferred date (and if not, you'll have enough time to find another suitable act). As a minimum, booking 6 months in advance is a fairly safe amount of time, however depending on things such as the time of year and day of the week, you may not have a great deal of options.

It depends on the time of year...

If you're looking at popular acts for your event, it's likely that most of their peak summer dates will be booked up by January. From May through to August are often the busiest months for most live bands as well as November and December, due to the popularity of Christmas corporate events and winter weddings. Saturdays are naturally the most popular days for bands all year round so if you've opted for a Thursday, Friday or Sunday, you can probably afford to leave it a little later before you book your a band. We would recommend enquiring a year before your event regardless, just to be safe and ensure that you secure your desired date with the perfect band for your wedding.
